How to Protect Your Purpose (and Your Energy)

We all have things we don’t play about: our family, our peace, our boundaries. But how often do we put our purpose in that same category?

Here’s the truth: if your purpose was given to you, it’s your responsibility to protect it.

Recently, I found myself in the middle of a project that started off full of promise—but quickly stalled due to miscommunication, delays, and misalignment. Normally, I’d wait it out, overextend grace, and stay quiet to “keep the peace.” But this time, I felt something different. I realized I was out of alignment. I wasn’t protecting my purpose.

And that made me think:
If I wouldn’t let someone mishandle my children, why am I letting them mishandle my purpose?

Whether you're birthing a business, launching a vision, or stepping into something new—your purpose deserves your full attention, care, and boundaries. Not everyone gets access. Not everyone gets a say.

Your purpose is an extension of you.
It should be treated with the same intention, nurturing, and protection you offer to the things (and people) you care about most.

Here’s how to protect your purpose:

Check for Alignment.
If the people or the plan don’t align with what you know you’re called to do, pause. Reassess.

Guard Your Energy.
Not every “good vibe” is good for you. Be mindful of what you allow into your space—especially when you're building something sacred.

Hold Yourself Accountable.
Sometimes we’re the ones playing around. Own that, then shift. Your purpose requires your discipline.

Keep Moving Forward.
Setbacks are real, but we don’t stay stuck. Evaluate, recalibrate, and take the next step forward.

Final Thought:

Your purpose isn’t random—it’s divine.
So treat it that way.
Protect it. Pour into it. Don’t play about it.

Journal Prompt: What would it look like if I protected my purpose the same way I protected the people/things I love most?

  • Who or what have I allowed to distract or delay my purpose?

  • Where in my life have I been inconsistent, passive, or apologetic about my calling?

  • What boundaries do I need to set—or reinforce—to keep my energy aligned with what I’ve been called to do?

  • What does “keeping that same energy” look like for me moving forward?

Until Next Time~
